Shredd and Ragan had there guest today Russ Brandon on 103.3 live local radio in Buffalo here is what went down:
Says that it has been a long process to scout and get board ready
Also said you never know how it is gonna play out,
Said that the day before the draft it is a bunch of fibs between the teams and media and that they dont disclose much info to each other, alot of smoke screens
Said it is hard to do a layout for the draft do to trades and people moving up and down in the draft order
His philosphy of pick is it best player avaialble or need player? Russ said they stay true to form and go after Best Player Available, and complemented Modrak on this philosphy
Ragan countered that some teams are going away from that philsophy and go after need players instead of BPA, said he read it in sports illustrated
Russ countered that Drafting and developing is more important than finding free agents, used Schobel and Kelsay and McGee as examples
What happened in the Peters situation?
Jason was valued greatly, said we groomed him and developed him and he blossomed into a great player and gave him a contract extension on his potential and they wanted to keep him here and negotiate a new deal, Peters would not agree to deal with Bills and what they thought he was worth and said that when they say he could get a bunch of picks for him 1 being a 1st rounder they made the move
Said there was still 2yrs left on the deal and Russ said they went to him at the end of the year like they said they would, and Peters would not budge on contract
Russ said a couple other teams were in play for Peters Philly was best offer
Said season ticket holders can go to RW party at stadium, Said they will be a better football team tomorrow
They stay in buffalo for there War Room
Russ doesnt know how Chris Berman does it said he has a cab driver who knows who they are taking
