Forked from: DE Maybin (http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/showpost.php?postid=2871226)

I've got this funny feeling this guy will be the Bills pick. Everything fits why I feel this way. Usually, you do not hear a lot about the players that the Bills actually end up picking before the draft. I can't recall hearing the Bills linked to Maybin (besides the occassional Mock Draft) too frequently. I'm not totally against it, eventhough there is a risk. I guess sometimes you have to take a chance and hope you right. If this kid can keep the weight on, then I believe he could be a very good pass rushing DE in this league.

Well, I guess my gut is pretty good...

Maybin makes a lot of tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and at 6ft4 can probably add 15-20lbs especially if he hits the weight room. Doesn't give up even when the team is getting badly beaten.

I think he's a lot of upside and could really surprise.

If it had been Ayers I'd have been ballistic, but at least Maybin has some production.

He also shows when given the chance .... he grabs it.

proof that people don't really have any extended college player critiquing. even the guys around here that supposedly do it for a living.

we all pretty much go on hunches, unless the occassional player has lots of national games in college.

orakpo obviously should've been the pick. i was scared to go texas too, but there comes a point where you have to ignore superstition. ricky williams went to texas and i'd have loved to have him, problems and all.

Ouch.

Don't judge a career based on one season. If used correctly, i do think Maybin could be a good player. Everyone knew he would take more time then others, and on top of him being a project, he missed most of camp. That certainly didn't help him any.

If I can find a thread to dig up from last April, the reason I liked the move so much was because I've always said that I saw him as a Terrell Suggs type, obviously he's not being used in that way this year and won't as long as Fewell remains in charge of either the team or as defensive coordinator.

IMO, Maybin's future as a "good pro" comes down to what kind of defense is around him.. I think he's a 3-4 rush linebacker, always have.

There is no such thing as a draft guru. There are a lot of guys that will give you a lot of information and they have their opinions on these guys, but nobody knows how these kids are going to translate into the NFL. I found out the hard way when I use to think I knew how some kid was going to play in the NFL and realized no matter how much research you do, how many college FB games you watch, or do any research, it is hard to figure what is going to happen.

Exactly. If I knew what I was doing I would be working for an NFL team not trying to sell other fans on a message board.

The draft is still fun because you can try to guess based on all the information who will work out.

Most of the negative posts around here turn out to be pretty damn realistic. There was plenty of reason to not be happy with this pick.

Personally, months before the draft I was just hoping for the shot to draft Orakpo but never thought we would even get close to him so Maybin became a comfortable spot to land especially after his combine, the weight he put on and his 10 yard split.

I was duped! That kid made millions by working his arse off for 2 months and eating like a mad man.

There's a reason only a very few number of people on this planet ever get picked: it's because you don't have to wait 2yrs to evaluate them! If 2yrs were that neccassy in evaluating a player why not sing/draft everyone possible? If you can't evaluate for 2yrs how do you make a decision on who to pick & play now?

I like him. 1 year wonder but is getting more and more built.

BOOM! I'm excited as hell. Quickest first step in the draft baby. I may be a homer having watched him and being a diehard PSU fan, but the guy can get to the QB!

Great pick... fastest first step, fastest 10 yard split of all the DEs... history is on his side.

I like it!!

Please, enough smack talk on the guy... He is a member of the team now... Welcome him properly. He will help our lacking pass rush

As a diehard Nittany Lion fan, I love the pick. But I gotta be honest, I wanted Orakpo. Bills fans will love Maybin trust me. He is going to knock Brady and Sancez on his ass
T-Long wanted Orakpo over Maybin so he gets a reprieve

Best pass rush prospect in the draft, without a doubt.

Maybin>>>>>>>>Orakpo Why cuz Maybin is a Buffalo Bill!!!!!!!!
P.S. We have had more luck with Penn Stae than Texas in the first round!

Orakpo is a lazy ***** from texas - don't you read up on these guys before you comment. If he's lazy in college, do you think he plays hard when you gice him millions?

Maybin makes a lot of tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and at 6ft4 can probably add 15-20lbs especially if he hits the weight room. Doesn't give up even when the team is getting badly beaten.

I think he's a lot of upside and could really surprise.

If it had been Ayers I'd have been ballistic, but at least Maybin has some production.

He also shows when given the chance .... he grabs it.

I believe the Bills got exactly what they wanted...a playmaker. Yes, he is a boom or bust pick, but isn't every pick??? They said they wanted guys who could make plays, well...IMO, this guy can. I'm not a hater of this pick...I also didn't feel Orakpo was the pass rushing option in the draft. Hey guys, let's not get crazy...we still have 2 more picks today.
Nighthawk was being positive… But he also wanted Orakpo, and he called Maybin what he was a Boom or BUST

i thought about it a little and now im excited the dude is fast as **** to the QB if aaron schobel comes back healthy we will see a lot of QB's on the ground... of course with our OL right now our QB might be on the ground a lot too

Aaron Maybin - Penn St.

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/ab9729/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msohtml1/01/clip_image001.gif

And look at him on ESPN...he doesn't want to come here.

Bust written all over it.

well hope he isn't the bust I think he'll be

Wow.

You skipped Orakpo, you skipped Oher, you skipped Maclin for a guy that you could have had 10 picks later in my mind.

ohh, no, we didnt.

So much for stopping the run anytime soon file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/ab9729/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msohtml1/01/clip_image002.gif

Wow. Can't believe they passed on Orakpo.

I HATE THIS PICK.

What a STUPID reach.

Orakpo, Oher, Brown were all on the board.

I am SOOOOOOOOO pissed. Yet another stupid reach by the totally inept Bills FO.

We took a guy that can't hold 250lbs to play de

Of course you can believe it, we're Bills' fans.

couldn't agree more. another undersized de

My day is ruined.

They need someone that can be physical and intimidate. Fast quick step? Great, he'll quickly first step himself into a pancake block.

He can't play vs the run.

This is a waste of a pick. We now have 2 Chris Ellis's.

GOD DAMNIT! I'M SUPER MAD. THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET HIGHLIGHTS. HIS HIGHLIGHT REEL WAS LOOK HE ALMOST MADE A TACKLE!

WASTE OF A ***** PICK! AGAIN!

He's the one player I didn't want the Bills to take due to his size but now that's here I will try to focus on his positives. Serious NFL talent evaluators outside the Bills have said this guy has the most upside of any DE in this draft.

When McShay on ESPN says he reminds him of Jason Taylor why not just go with that?!
