You know these are highlights for Marc Sanchez right? They aren't showing anything else.

Yeah, he had 4-5 tackles, a few tackles for loss, a sack called back because of an offsides, and 3 QB pressures.

I think he also had a forced fumble called back because of a penalty.

You're right. I think it should also be mentioned that the pass rush for PSU was not the problem against USC. The real problem was the secondary. Sanchez threw about 40 short outs, and PSU never pressed or even attempted to stop them. As a PSU fan, I can testify that the secondary in that bowl game was absolutely horrid. I'm glad we didn't take any of them (Rubin, Scirrotto, Sargeant, etc.).

All I got outta that was he hustles. None of his plays really stood out. I mean he moves to ball and Penn State dropped him in coverage, but USC did O.K containing him.

Yeah I saw that. :crap:

The good thing is that he's a CB...and he shouldn't make the team.

A bunch of three step drop backs should save a QB from pressure. Those were very quick throws to save him from the rush and it worked for USC.

I understand that he didn't play much until his final season.

I understand that he didn't play much until his final season.

He redshirted his freshman year and played every game as a back-up his sophomore year. Had 4.5 TFL, a forced fumble and 4 sacks.

This year was his second season, first as a starter. It'll take him a year before he's strong enough to be an every-down DE, but by all accounts he should be good. As of now, I think he's a liability against the run. I was not keen on him in the draft because of that.

Did you happen to notice which way Sanchez was moving in those highlights?

Maybin didn't get a sack early in the game, but he was getting close. After their second or third series, USC had Sanchez taking a step or rolling away from Maybin for much of the rest of the game.

And, yes, Maybin hustled his butt off right until the end, even after USC got up big.

Maybin isn't going to be a superstar right off the bat--very few DEs are elite as rookies--but he is going to be a good one. And he should make the Bills' pass rush better as a rookie, especially if he plays opposite Schobel and next to Stroud on passing downs.
