http://walterfootball.com/college/WesternMichigan_logo.gif Tim Hiller, Western Michigan
Height: 6-5. Weight: 228.
Projected 40 Time: 4.94.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
2/4/09: While Tim Hiller started and played OK as a sophomore, he really stepped it up in 2008, throwing for 3,725 yards, 36 touchdowns and just 10 picks. Hiller also maintained a 64.9 completion percentage and a 7.1 YPA.

Comments:

10/17/09- vs. Central Mich- Has good arm strength but can be pretty inaccurate when he tries to throw it hard. Can really make nice hrad throws at times. Seems a bit inconsistent and inaccurate. Is able to stand in there until the last second and try to make the throws. Fairly impressive in his presence. Mobile, isnt a statue, but isnt a threat on the run either. I will be shocked if he measures 6' 5" at the combine... looks more like 6" 2" - 6' 3". Decent build, not lanky or thin... fairly muscular. Has the arm, there is no doubt about that, he can throw the ball on a rope. A very good decision maker. Very good at keeping the chains moving and managing the game. Very nice pocket skills. Nice touch on his throws. What he doesn't do that great is go through his progressions. He does a better job finding an open guy even if he has pressure than he does trying to pick a defense apart. Teams will want to see his ability to grasp pro style defenses and make reads. But ability wise he can make all the throws you want. he also can be inaccurate which may cause people to not have complete confidence in him. He will make errant throws that will make you wonder if he has a nervous twitch. Threw a horrible pick in the final seconds of the half. he makes these mind numbing throws at times.

11/7/09- vs. Mich St- The team is obviously over matched. Takes an early 1st quarter sack, fumble. 3:26 left in the 1st, shows the errant throw that he will occasionally make. Follows that bad throw up with a great job reading the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd options, scrambling, and then throwing to a guy who came back as the play broke down for a 1st down. This wont be a great game to judge him by since they are so outmatched. That said, he also didn't take over and lead his team to make plays or even make that many plays himself. Very inaccurate today, at least at the half, with 8 for 21.

Tim Hiller is a pocket passer with a strong arm. Hes been very productive over his college career. He also was a four year starter, although he didn't start all of his freshman year. Tim is the type of QB who will hang in the pocket and wait for things to open up. He does a very good job of feeling the pressure. Hiller has a very good arm and shouldn't struggle to make all the NFL throws. He has good accuracy and delivers the ball with authority. But, like most QB's in college, he usually threw to his primary target. NFL teams will want to see his ability to go through progressions and read defenses. Tim's footwork could be better, but an NFL team will work on that for sure. A big question mark for Hiller is his durability, he has suffered multiple knee injuries. In 2005, he tore his right ACL and missed 2006. In 2008, he tore his left ACL. A team will have to convince themselves that he isn't injury prone. Tim could turn out to be a solid pocket passer in the NFL. His ability to direct the offense, move the chains, and make all the throws makes him an intriguing prospect.
