2/4/09: Tony Pike missed some action with a broken forearm. Still, he was able to manage 2,407 yards, 19 touchdowns, 11 picks, 61.4 completion percentage and 7.4 YPA.
Comments:
09/28/09- vs Oregon St- I'm not sure I see the hype. He has a fairly slow release but isnt horrible. Can be very inaccurate at times. has good pocket presence, doesn't get rattled. Decent arm strength but doesn't throw a bullet. Will roll out OK but isn't much of a threat with his legs; but will take it and run it if everyone is covered. Can find the open guy when his first option isn't there. Nice play change in the early 2nd for a long completion. Can throw on the run. Has good feel in the pocket.
10/18/09- replay of So Flor- Has a similar game to Hiller in that he stands in the pocket, and patiently delivers the ball. Doesnt have a big arm but its adequate. His arm may not hurt him in the NFL unless he gets into windy situations. That said, he has adequate strength to deliver the ball. Doesnt look off the primary target much... again hes another QB that me need to be taught how to go through progressions. But, his poise in the pocket can be impressive at times. On his build, he obviously has the frame to add bulk, but right now is pretty thin. It may never be a problem in the NFL unless he goes to a team with a poor OL and takes big hits. But again, he could easily fill out and have a Roth like build.

12/05- vs. Pitt- Can make very erratic throws, thrown several INT's so far. Arm isn't overly strong, but his trhows seem to have decent velocity. I think his long arms make his throwing motion look deceptively slow or weak But, if you look at the ball speed and distance he can throw, his arm is fine. Picked up his game late with a TD and a final minute drive to put them in a position to win. He kind of went to a new level like he shifted gears or just woke up. On this drive, hes finding the open guys by reading the defense and going through progressions, hes throwing the ball with authority, and hes throwing accurately. Gorgeous long throw to Binns for a TD to put this big game in the books. Hes a real enigma. At times he looks like he wouldn't even belong in the NFL and then he looks like he could be a franchise QB. You never know what you will get with him. Consistency may make teams question him.

Tony Pike is a classic pocket passer with rare height who may benefit from a offensive style that emphasizes the short and intermediate routes. He is a capable passer but may struggle to make all the NFL throws. Tony has slightly below average arm strength and can make errant throws at times. However, Pike also needs to add bulk to his thin frame and his arm strength may further improve from adding additional muscle. Pike broke his forearm this year and it may cause scouts to pause when considering his durability. <o:p></o:p>

Tony Pike is a classic pocket passer with rare height who may benefit from a offensive style that emphasizes the short and intermediate routes. He is a capable passer but may struggle to make all the NFL throws. Tony has slightly below average arm strength and can make errant throws at times.
