With a pair of first round picks and 8 picks total, it’s anything but surprising that the Bills have the fifth highest rookie pool figure at $5.94M. The only teams ahead of them are the following.
1. Detroit - $8.07M
2. Denver - $7.11M
3. Cincinnati - $6.63M
4. New England - $6.03M
Detroit had two first-round picks like the Bills including the 1st overall. Denver also had 2 firsts and 3 second rounders.
The Bengals had 11 total picks and the Pats had 12 total picks including four second rounders.
The rookie pool is basically a cap within a cap. It’s the limit that NFL teams can spend on their rookies in the first year of their contracts (2009).
