Aaron Maybin DE- 1 year player who made a huge boom in the NCAA. He was so good that the 1 year that he played immediatley made him a top 10 pick. In some ways he fell and in some ways he was a reach but no matter what we got a great player. Best speed DE in draft, provides a energy that we have lacked and we can do alot with him. He can play LB, RE, LE, and pure pass rushing specialist. Downsides are his expierence and size. Size can be changed. He can probably make it to 258 lbs.
Grade- B. Not a A until he gains his weight.
Eric Wood C- Brawler, powerfull, everything that you want from a center. He can take on Jenkins and Wilfork durring the season in my opinion. Its a tough challenge but hes a tough kid. Kind of a tougher Saturday in my opinion. Im excited about this kid.
Grade- A. Only issue I see is 2nd level and over aggressive which is also a strength
Jairus Byrd S- Interesting pick. Got alot of heat but after looking at last years stats, I see why we got him. 27th in INTs last year. Thats horrible since weve taken a DB with a top 3 pick each of the last 3 years. We also had the 4th most runs over 40 yds and 6th most 20 yds. We did need a saftey. He had 17 ints in 3 years. Thats around 6 INTs a season.
Grade- A for player. B for needs over it. Overall B+. I think he is worth a A just for who he is, but there were alot of higher needs that we passed up on so the pick as position gets a B. Overall is B+
Andy Levitre G- Im not going to lie, since I thought we would have this pick filled, I dont know much about him but from what ive heard is he is solid. Alot of boards had him as the best G and 2nd best interior lineman in the draft. Him and Wood will produce havock
Going on what I have heard, B
Shawn Nelson TE- I still cant believe he fell and im so happy we got this guy. He was projected as a 2nd-3rd round pick and we got him in the late 4th. I think he is a fantastic reciever and has can be trained to more of a all around TE. Good size and has good speed
Grade A+
Nic Harris LB- Transitioned from saftey and is a great tackler. Just look at this vid http://www.metacafe.com/watch/263180...ew_nic_harris/
He was a saftey which means that he can drop into zone and be a reliable LB in coverage and can keep up with TEs and RBs alike. I think that he will be our starter and will be good for us. Size is a issue but not a big one, hes the same size as Pos.
Grade- B-
Other 2. Probably wont make it out of camp so im not bothering.
UDFAs
Travis McCall FB/TE- 6-4, 270. Size of a DE and can hit. He is known for being a solid blocker who is basically a Klei clone (minnesotas TE/FB). He can catch out of the backfield. I think he is better than any FB we can place right now and he can become a good lead blocker for lynch.
De Cody Fagg WR- Yes hes a WR, but he was a top WR comming out last year when he tore his ACL and had to stay. This year he is back and is ready to compete. From what I have hear he looks great in camp and looks like he has no effect from the injury. Good sign.
Joel Bell T- No idea who he is but by reading his scouting report his main problem is power. Hes athletic enough, smart enough, has good hands, but as long as he gets stronger he should make the team.
This is my 2 cents
