they rate Antoine Winfield based on their rating scale in the Top 5 of all NFL CBs with a 9.2 Grade which is equivilent to a Rare Player.

What about Clements?

7.6 or something I believe. But Winfield was only rated behind Bailey, Woodson, and Madison, and above players such as Ty Law, Pat Surtain, Aeneas Williams, and Troy Vincent.

i think in a year or two clements will be better than winfeild, if we can keep both of them around....scary

The thing I've been saying all along is, if we ever do something with our current CBs coach, grab the one from Ohio State.
Marlon Kerner
Antoine Winfield
Nate Clements
Ahmed Plummer
Shawn Springs
and there are likely more I can't think of
all top-notch CBs in the NFL.....the only thing that held Marlon back was injury.

Interesting that if they think so much of him why isn't he even ranked in the top 35 of FF DB's on their site?

I think he's rated a bit high........Surtain is a better CB and I would prefer Surtain to Madison, who is grossly overrated. Madison is only as good as the refs allow him to be....he holds constantly....Surtain doesn't need to hold

His tackling ability is what makes Winfield better than alot of those guys

Clements is better know. If we can snatch up one more lineman, or brew our own, our secondary might lead the NFL in turnovers.

not too bad for someone, who some say, that is smallish for an NFL cornerback.

he is also TSN's ,ost underrated player. Hes a quiet team leader. Winfield apparently loves it here, and hopefully will be resigned to a long deal.

While I agree that guy would do a good job. I think our DB's coach has done quite well and I hope we don't get rid of him. While Clements and Winfield are talented, I don't think anyone would have expected them to be this good this quickly, corners usually take a few years to be at the top of the game, not right off the bat. Watson has come along quite well since we picked him up and I see a big improvement in Prioleau's game as well. Wire has progressed a lot this preseason, but that might be due to Wire's ability/personality moreso than the coaching.

I agree, HenryRules. Though Pat Thomas specializes in CBs and Steve Jackson specializes in S's....two different coaches. If anything happens to Thomas (promotion, another job, or whatever), bring in the Buckeyes DBs coach.

I agree with clumping platelets on his assesment of Surtain and Madison except Surtain will hold down near the goal line, on the recievers break or in some third down situations on the press.
