    Can Vick help this football team?

    This is a different discussion than what's going on in the other Vick thread.

    If you want to discuss morals or the nature of his crime or if he's paid his debt to society, please go to that thread. There's a pretty good discussion going on in there.

    This thread is for discussing football. Let's pretend that Vick is past all his legal troubles and cleared by the NFL to play this season. Whether or not he SHOULD be playing is a different topic. Let's discuss whether or not he can help this team.

    I honestly don't think he can. The guy does not have the smarts to be an NFL QB. He's excellent when he can use his athleticism, but that comes at the price of quick decisions and a downfield passing game. Being out of the game for so long certainly won't help his mental progress, and it probably didn't help with his physical abilities either.

    I'm not 100% sold on Edwards, but I'm sure Vick isn't the answer. I'd rather give Edwards his shot and hope for the best. The problem with Vick is that we've already seen the peak of what he can accomplish in the NFL. If nothing else, Trent has potential.

    Mike Vick would make the Buffalo Bills a better football team. I don't care what he did... there are guys doing a hell of a lot worse things in the NFL.

        With all that Buffalo has invested in receivers the past two years, that would go to waste with a non-passing QB.

            Thats what I was wondering myself... I dont think Ive heard anything about any team being interested in him, especially the Bills. put if youve got some info that the Bills like Vick then please share it.

                Nah...He used to be a franchise athlete, not a franchise QB. Who knows what he is now? Besides, it would be an even worse media circus than TO. I'd rather stay away from him.

                  that's what I thought when I first saw the other thread, but it was already 4 pages long at that point so apparently people think it's worthy of discussion.

                      I don't think he would. Vick is just not a complete QB. He doesn't go through all of his reads and wants to run with the ball too much. We need a guy who can get it downfield and utilize our wide receivers.

                        Well, I'm not 100% convinced that Trent is going to help this team. But I am convinced that he's a far better option than Vick.

                          I can't add much more than what Op already said.

                          Vick is(was) a great athlete. He is (was) a sub-par QB. His accuracy sucked. His mental approach to the game sucked. He is ability to read defenses was slightly below Losman's.

                          I don't see how he helps the team.

                              Vick would help this team win games in November and December because of his ability to scramble, make plays with legs and turn something into nothing.

                              Also his cannon arm wouldn't be effected by harsh Buffalo winters.

                              Comparing him to Losman in any aspect is somewhat idiotic, no offense.
