The Minnesota Vikings (http://www.nfl.com/teams/minnesotavikings/profile?team=MIN)' reported dalliance with retired quarterback Brett Favre (http://www.nfl.com/players/brettfavre/profile?id=FAV540222) hasn't reached the stage of face-to-face,
close-the-deal talks.

Maybe it never will.

Vikings coach Brad Childress remained at team headquarters Thursday despite reports that he was scheduled to travel south for discussions with Favre, who lives in Mississippi.

Yahoo! Sports, citing an unidentified source close to the team, reported that Favre called Childress sometime Wednesday or early Thursday and told the coach that he wants to stay retired.

Bus Cook, Favre's agent, told NFL Network's Scott Hanson (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d81034808/Favre-staying-retired) that he had a Thursday morning conversation with his client, who didn't mention any phone call with Childress.

I'll believe Favre's retirement when I don't see a number 4 starting behind center on opening day for the Vikings.

I doubt its about money...this is a guy that turned down 20 million dollars to stay retired last year. He is gonna sign a 1 day contract with GB and retire(for good) this summer.

He's pretty annoying. He may have been good back in the day, but he's always been an injury prone, overrated, drama queen since I've watched football. It seemed like every time I watched him, he always threw an INT in critical situations. Then the announcers would slobber on his knob making excuses for it.

i don't blame him for showing interest to any NFL team knocking on his door.

If someone (probably Vikings) comes calling around camp time, he'll suit up in a second.

I bet in 5 years he's still trying to get a reporter to believe he may come back.
