Great news. Fred's an excellent compliment to Marshawn. Also, nice insurance if Marshawn continues to have off-field issues.

Brandon seems to be comitted to his word.

With that being said, I'd like to send another nice big hearty FU to Jason Peters.

Wouldn't be Fred the "diamond" Jackson be more suitable then, considering we pulled him from the rough.

Or we could go with another word for Diamond and call him ICE.. or Freddie ICE.

Amen. Jackson voiced quickly and tastefully voiced his displeasure early on and held out a week of voluntary workouts but got back right into things with his team and voiced confidence in the FO.

Jackson should have been Peters' agent.

Bills and RB Jackson agree on contract extension

Buffalo Bills

The Bills and running back <nobr>Fred Jacksonhttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/img/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/fred-jackson/9197889b-672f-42fb-ba04-3b75b8afb81a/)</nobr> have agreed to terms on a contract extension.
The three-year veteran has played in 24 career games with four starts. In 2008, Jackson set a career-high with 571 rushing yards on 130 carries including three touchdowns and added 37 catches for 317 yards.
Jackson has recorded 871 rushing yards on 188 attempts and 507 receiving yards on 59 catches in his career.
A product of Coe College and a Forth Worth, TX native, Jackson joined Buffalo in September of 2006 on the team’s practice squad.

The Buffalo Bills (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=buf) have one less loose end to worry about.
<table align="right" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"> <tbody><tr> <td> <table bgcolor="#c0c0c0" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody><tr> <td> <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1"> <tbody><tr> <td bgcolor="#ffffff">http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/10195.jpg</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> </tbody></table> Jackson </td> </tr> </tbody></table> The Bills on Wednesday morning re-signed popular backup running back Fred Jackson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10195) and will have him on the field when organized team activities begin Monday. The deal is for four years. Financial terms aren't yet known.
Negotiations had been contentious. He was an exclusive-rights player, meaning his contract was up, but he could re-sign only with the Bills or not play at all. Jackson had considered signing the Bills' one-year $460,000 tender and taking his chances with restricted free agency next year.
Jackson, who's overlooked by casual football fans, should remain integral to Buffalo's offense, especially in September. The NFL suspended Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10456) for the first three games of the season.
Jackson ran for 571 yards and three touchdowns last year. He also caught 37 passes for 317 yards, making him and Lynch the NFL's most prolific backfield receiving duo.
The Bills also signed free agent Dominic Rhodes (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2893), who expects to compete with Jackson to be the opening-day starter.

I'm extremely happy being a big Jackson fan (evidenced by my avatar) but it still saddens me that we weren't able to do the same with Greer who I felt was as great of a person and as good of a player.

I think everybody would have liked to see Greer stay - he was a class act too.

I guess he lost out by virtue of being at a position where we had some depth.

I'm wondering the same. 4 year deal... I'd imagine somewhere in the $5-6 million ballpark. I'd be surprised if it was much more... he had no leverage whatsoever. Could be pretty clause-laden... ie tons of performance bonuses. Whatever it is, glad to have him happily back in the fold. Now about that LB spot...

Its going to be at least 2.5 mil a season. More likely in the 3 mil/season range.

$2.5 - $3.5 mill/year is more probable. With $4-$5 mill guarenteed.

Marshawn will notsee another contract by the Bills.
He will serve out his contract or be traded after next year.

That is what this tells me.
