Stroud ranks high among DTs

The Sporting News did a rankings list of the best defensive tackles in the NFL as determined by their panel of former league scouts. Marcus Stroud ranked fairly high.

Stroud was pitted eighth overall behind the likes of Albert Haynesworth, Kevin Williams, Vince Wilfork, Haloti Ngata, Chris Canty, Shaun Rogers and Casey Hampton.

Canty and Rogers are talented, but I’d take Stroud over those two players for sure. And Hampton is on the downside of his career so I’d put Stroud ahead of him as well, though Hampton does have a tougher job in a 3-4. What do you think?

I think that right now, Hampton is a bit better, though he is going downhill. I thought Canty was a DE in Dallas? I could be wrong, but last I knew, no one has seen him play DT in New York.

I'd definitely put Rogers ahead of Stroud though. I saw that guy take over multiple games. He and Ngata are two of the best NT's right now, imo.

Kris Jenkins is a man beast. Take a look at the bills jets games this year and tell me he shouldn't be on that list.

Jenkins, Rogers, Ratliff should all be higher on that list.

I live in Jet Country.

Jenkins absoluely either quit or gassed in last 5-6 games of season. He was invinceable. He was a beast early in year.

Chris Brown is a funny guy.

Gives Hampton extra credit because he's a 3-4 NT but doesn't extend that same credit to Shaun Rogers.

Probably because Rogers is a huge complainer. Didn't I hear shortly after the season he wanted out of Cleveland?

Ngata I thought lined up at DE in the Baltimore defense?

He's listed on their website as Nose tackle, and at 345 pounds...that would be one HECK of a DE haha

Ngata sometimes switches his position with Bannan/Kelly but don't let you be fooled, he is a nose tackle.

Anyway... I'm not sure about Rogers, he seems to stay out of the field too many snaps, he is aging. Also, how about Jamal Williams, Tommie Harris, Pat Williams, Fred Robbins, John Henderson and Mike Peterson? Chris Canty over these? Damn.
Isn't Canty a 34 DE?

Something like that, although the list might be subjective and it's ponitless to argue "X guy should be at top of Y guy" because it's not like we can really make an accurate list.
