Here's the situation: A left-handed quarterback in his early 30s, after eight years as his team's starter, goes into a meeting with the owner. He's told in so many words that the team wants him to stick around one more year, part of which will be spent developing a first-round draft pick targeted to be his replacement.
The veteran quarterback knows he has little choice in the matter. A new coaching staff is already in place. So he plays along, trying to make the best of an awkward situation for the upcoming season.
