    NFL CONFIDENTIAL: McNair is unusually fit

    This has been an unusual offseason for quarterback Steve McNair.

    He hasn't undergone surgery.

    It's the first time since 1998 that the Tennessee Titans quarterback hasn't needed offseason repair.

    After the Super Bowl appearance following the 1999 campaign, he had a bone spur removed from his left big toe. After the 2000 season, he needed surgery to flush out an infection in his right shoulder. After last season, doctors removed a bone spur from his shoulder.

    This offseason, he just needed rest to heal his aching back, ribs and toe, even though those ailments sometimes prevented him from practicing during the week last year.
