Yes, according to John Murphy

At the end of the bills report...they did a section on Bowen and how he has come back from injury....

Murphy ended his report saying this (a summary, but this is what he said):

"Bowen will compete with Ellison to start. Perry Fewell confirmed that Bowen would have started last year when Crowell went down had he not had an injury himself."

just thought it was interesting john murphy threw that in there at the very end...saying fewell told him bowen would have started last year when crowell went down.

bowen got hurt early.. there is no way they would have known if bowen would have started last year.. they didnt even get enough time to see him.

bowen got hurt early.. there is no way they would have known if bowen would have started last year.. they didnt even get enough time to see him.

I too have a hard time believing that Fewell could tell on August 1st that Bowen was better than Ellison. Maybe Bowen showed his ability early, but I just don't think it's wise for a coordinator to make a decision about a starter at a position where there is competition one week into training camp.

John Murphy said it at the end of the bills segment on the news earlier...said Fewell told him that Bowen would have started had he not been hurt since Crowell got hurt.

that's wrong. Murphy said "if he didn't get hurt, he would have had a solid chance to compete for the starting roll when Crowell went down"

Ive been high on Bowen since his pick came up. Draft boy shot my opinion of him down, but I liked what I saw of the kid in college. Covering the Sooners in the big 12, I got to see alot of Bowen at Iowa State. The kid has potential. Is he back to 100% yet?

yes he did say that...then at the end he said Fewell confirmed that Bowen WOULD HAVE STARTED LAST YEAR when Crowell went down. It was on the 6pm newscast. I know what I heard.

I believe it. I remember reading the stuff on him that through all the OTA's, mini and part of training camp that the kid was utlra impressive. They loved his playing speed and how fast he plays. I'm watching him and Harris as long as one of them unseats Ellison I'm happy.

Bowen was a really good college player. If I recall correctly, one of the main reasons he slipped in the draft was poor 40 times. He's definitely somebody to keep an eye on.
