He was brought in as a tryout player during the Bills rookie minicamp in early May. Despite a crowded offensive backfield Justise Hairston made enough of an impression to land a contract with Buffalo. The Bills signed the running back on Monday.

Hairston (6’1” 210) originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick by New England in 2007 after a huge senior season at Central Connecticut State. He rushed for 1,877 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2006 after transferring from Rutgers.

could be a good find, but why do we always seem to find guys like this at positions where we're already good? It would be nice if he played LB or DE.

Uh... another running back? Last time I checked, we have 3 pretty good RBs...

I remember Hairston from when he came out of college. I think he's got pretty good measurables to go with that gaudy senior production, albeit at a tiny school. Obviously, this signing won't affect this year. If he impresses in training camp, the Bills will find a spot for him on the PS. I'm not really worried about saving a roster spot for a phantom player at a position of need. If that player exists and the Bills find him, they can always let someone go who has less of a chance to make the team, whether it's Hairson or someone else.

Hey it he nets us a 6th round pick somewhere down the road, it's worth it.

Maybe they're expecting Lynch to get arrested a few more times.
