As we've been reporting over the past few weeks, Rams rookie defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy has brought a big attitude and an even bigger rear end to his initial workouts with the team that made him the 12th overall pick in last month's draft.

Per a league source, Kennedy recently had an exchange with Rams defensive line coach Bill Kollar, who told the rookie that he didn't like Kennedy's arrogance. Kennedy then told Kollar that he'd be surprised when Kennedy arrives for training camp in great shape.

Kollar's response: "I'm already surprised at how cocky you are."

Kollar isn't alone, apparently. Some players believe that Kennedy's recent back pain is exaggerated.

Kennedy also is suffering from a bone bruise in his knee, which was injured in his first official drill as a Ram. He supposedly stubbed his right foot coming out of his stance, and then he hyperextended his left knee, resulting in a bone bruise.

Though coach Mike Martz has vouched for Kennedy, explaining that the pain resulting from a bone bruise is "miserable."

Then again, Martz recognizes that it's "nothing structural," which means that Kennedy could play through the thing -- if he chose to suck it up and do so.

Elsewhere, teams drafting ahead of the Rams who took defensive linemen (the Jets, Saints, Vikings, and Ravens) are feeling vindicated by these developments -- and some of the teams who were standing in line behind the Rams are saying that they too would have left Kennedy on the board, if he'd slip past number 12.
