Once again there is a Western New York connection to a Stanley Cup champion. Brooks Orpik will become the latest Western New Yorker to have his name engraved on Lord Stanley's hardware.
Orpik, who played his high school hockey at Nichols, and his Pittsburgh Penguins beat Detroit Friday night, 2 to 1 to take the series 4 games to 3.
It seems likely that Orpik who grew up in East Amherst will bring the Stanley Cup to Western New York sometime this summer.
also his brother Andrew is property of the Sabres, and is returning for his final year at Boston College.
