By all accounts, the Redskins will have a high profile this season. The NFL selected Washington to play in three prime-time, nationally-broadcast games in 2003, including the league opener on Thursday, September 4, at FedExField against the New York Jets.

The Redskins also face five teams that participated in the 2002 postseason and they'll see no less than 47 Pro Bowlers. The first seven contests leading into the bye week in Week 8 are especially formidable. The Redskins battle four playoff teams, not to mention the past two Super Bowl champions, New England and Tampa Bay.

Of course, the season opener against the Jets provides special drama, as the two teams have had much in common of late. The Redskins acquired four key players from the Jets, guard Randy Thomas, kicker John Hall, wide receiver Laveranues Coles and returner/running back Chad Morton this offseason.

Morton may have put it best when he said recently: "We're all looking forward to that one."

And then there's the supreme challenge for the Redskins' defense on Week 2. At least George Edwards' defense will have a few extra days to prepare for it. The Redskins travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons and Michael Vick. He and Patrick Ramsey will square off for the first time.

The Redskins open their NFC East slate against the Giants at home on Week 3 and will look to settle the score after falling twice to New York last season. The club continues its homestand against Tom Brady and the 2001 Super Bowl Champion Patriots the following week.

The month of October opens with the Eagles playing host to the burgundy and gold to open their new stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. The Redskins fell to the NFC East champs twice a year ago.

Up next are the defending Super Bowl champs. The Redskins host Jon Gruden's defense, with dominating players such as Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks. Former Washington QB Brad Johnson makes his return to FedExField.
