10/24/09- vs. Mich- Good in coverage. Gets into plays well, isn't hesitant. May have a tough time playing LB at only 6' 1". Very productive and is usually round the ball.

Bowman is a force at OLB. At this point, there's only good things to say about his game. He led the Nittany Lions in tackles during the 2008 season but didn't even start the first four games. Unfortunately, he was injured in the first quarter of the first game in 2009. It is a lingering groin injury that will affect his playing time this season and may affect how he plays.

The good news for PSU is similar to the bright side of Royster's uninspiring performances: it may bring him back for another year. Bowman, in his first year starting, showed many good qualities for an OLB. He has good range, showed great tackling form and the ability to stop guys in the open field. He wraps up well and does not often get pushed back by runners or receivers looking for the extra yard.

He had 16.5 TFL and 4.0 sacks, which shows good ability to penetrate into the backfield. Although it should be considered that he was playing behind a lot of NFL talent when he racked up those numbers, including Jared Odrick, Aaron Maybin and Maurice Evans. He's also solid in pass coverage with 1 INT and 5 passes broken up in 2008. If you want a guy who isn't quite great in one or two areas, but is very good in all aspects of the game, this is your guy. He should be a starter in the NFL in no time, whether he transitions to ILB in a 3-4 or stays as a 4-3 OLB.

In a game full of bad form and missed tackles, Bowman is a bright spot. The man was all over the field in most every PSU game. I look forward to watching him, especially now that Sean Lee is back on the other side of the field.
