Hey, somebody tell the Sabres that it is OK to trade good players for value and help your team in the process. It makes me sick to see that teams that have made the playoffs and are very good still are on top of their game and are looking to get good players when they can. Kessel is a RFA and the Bruins might not be able to afford him and they are looking to get good value in return. This is how it is supposed to work.

You can't walk three feet in this joint without hearing someone mention Jay Bouwmeester's(notes) name. Barring something completely unforeseen, the Florida Panthers defenseman's UFA negotiating rights will be traded and various sources have teams like the Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres reportedly in the mix.

It would be nice, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'd rather have Heatley, as he is much more of a difference maker and is exactly what this team needs. At some point, this organization just has to trade whatever it takes to get a STAR player in here who fans can get excited about. We NEED a player who actually can single handedly make a difference in a game, we don't have anybody like that and it is a huge need.

I would Jay-Bo way before Heatley. #1 defensemen are impossible to find and Jay-Bo is so young.

Heatley is a star, for sure but I think Jay-Bo is the better player, albeit not as flashy.

We disagree on how teams should be built to win championships. I totally agree that you have to have strong defenseman, but you underestimate how important it is to have players who can take over games. I'd be happy with either one of those players, but I just don't think this FO gets it.

What makes me think they can do more with Jay-Bo is that they have some talented offensive forwards (Vanek, Pominville, Roy, Stafford) but do not have a topline D-man, unless Myers or Butler advance very quickly.

Getting either would be great. Jay-Bo and cheaper big forward (i.e. Chris Neil) would help this team tremendously.

Anybody who listened to the interview with Darcy on GR KNOWS the Sabres are not in the mix to trade for a players rights. He said he would NEVER do that.

Darcy is the guy that goes to the Casino and heads right for the nickel slots to spend the $10 he has alloted himself for the night. No Balls.

Jesus, I want Boumeister but I'd rather do without him if it means listening to people say "Jay-Bo" for the next 4 or 5 years.

Chris Neil is an Ottawa punk *****.

TSN just said Bryan Murray of the Sens is looking for 3 good players in return for Dan Heatley.

well that rules out a trade with the Sabres then.

Sarcasm aside, I hate trades within the division anyway. It's too easy to get burned.

I wasnt expecting the Sabres to make a trade for him . I just thought it was a bit much for him.

that eliminates any possibility the Sabres had in the Heatley sweepstakes.

I don't think Heatley is worth 3 good players (IMHO), he's only had 2 real great seasons that put him on the radar to begin with. I'd give a trade w/ a prospect or future draft consideration, but not a heck of a lot more.

Well I guess the Pronger trade takes them out of the mix. They were the team I saw going hardest for him. Unfortunately, I never have seen Darcy make a blockbuster move like this and even if he ot the rights Darcy does not have a good track record or signing big name players.
