Heatley: might have to get the deal done himself.

MONTREAL — If Dany Heatley is going to get traded, he might have to get the deal done himself.

While Bryan Murray failed in a bid to deal the disgruntled winger out of town at the NHL draft at the Bell Centre, league sources told Sun Media the Senators GM has given Heatley’s agents J.P. Barry and Stacey McAlpine permission to speak with interested teams.

“So far, even that hasn’t worked,” a league executive said yesterday.

With time running short before owner Eugene Melnyk has to stroke a $4-million (all terms US) bonus cheque to Heatley on July 1, sources say Murray was disgusted with the Rangers’ offer of Michael Roszival and Nikolai Zherdev for the two-time 50-goal scorer.

“It’s a matter of seeing if there is a deal out there or not,” said Murray.

Sources say the Los Angeles Kings have pulled out of the race for Heatley. The Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks are among the teams interested, while the Chicago Blackhawks are willing to make a deal if the Senators will take back defenceman Brian Campbell.

Campbell has a NTC and he can provide a list of 8 teams he will accept a trade to that he would want to go to. I'm shure Ottawa is on top of that list and he would waive it to go home to Ottawa, he played for the Ottawa 67's growing up.

I lose IQ every time I read LW's posts

i think it meant take him back since it's his hometown. At least that's what the article implied.

I'm going to post this before LW starts another thread...

Report: Heatley Rejects Trade to Edmonton

Hours after reporting the Ottawa Senators had traded disgruntled forward Dany Heatley to the Edmonton Oilers, TSN and Sportnet.ca are now reporting that the deal is on hold, with TSN's Bob McKenzie stating that Heatley has refused to waive his no-trade clause.

The agreed-upon deal reportedly would have sent forwards Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and defenseman Ladislav Smid to Ottawa.
