The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Matt Ellis (8/31/1981, 6’, 207 lbs.) to a one-year deal. The winger appeared in 45 games for the Sabres in 2008-09, finishing with 12 (7+5) points.

Meh.

As a 13th forward and veteran depth he is fine. Obviously not a great player, but OK in his role.

Hecht should be a 3rd liner, but on this team he's a 2nd.

Hecht on the 2nd line THATS A JOKE.

What is the difference Hecht or Paille in that spot. Paille played better last year.

I would like another forward added to the mix through trade. Who knows if that will happen.

Paille scored a total of 27 points in 73 games last year and now we got him on the 2nd line...SWEEEETTTTTT!!!!!!!

This is like playing chess when the Sabres have no Bishops, Rooks, or Castle's...They have plenty of Queens and pawns...

Another meaningless post...Nobody mentioned Portland at all...The only place Ellis is going is the press box for 60 games this year.

Detroit might actually claim him. Babcock loves Ellis.

But the Sabres do need a top 6 forward, or else Kenendy and/or Gerbe will be on the 2nd line. Baptism by fire. It might be good in the long run, but I would much rather see a new veteran face on one of the top two lines.

My lines that I have on NHL09 updated (I do all my roster moves myself)

Gerbe Roy Pommers
Kennedy Connolly Vanek
Kaleta Goose Mair
Hecht Mac Ellis

Gerbe plays like Briere did with Pommers on his line Gerbe can pass Pominville the puck like Briere did when he was here. That's what Pommers was missing last year someone to feed him the puck.

Kennedy and Connolly could be a good line combination like Pat LaFontaine was with Mogilny. Mogilny would pass LaFontaine the puck and he could score the goal or vice versa.
