I guess he isn't good enough for the Sabres roster.

The Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins (http://penguins.nhl.com/) have signed defenseman Jay McKee (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8462045) to a one-year contract, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8458010).

McKee, 31, recorded eight points (one goal, seven assists) along with 44 penalty minutes in 69 games with the St. Louis Blues (http://blues.nhl.com/) during the 2008-09 season. He finished seventh in the NHL with 185 blocked shots while ranking fourth on the Blues with a plus-eleven rating. McKee played in four playoff contests, helping the Blues in their first playoff appearance since 2004.

Would you want to play for Buffalo if you weren't from here?

mckee is probably good on a team already with a defense. they can live without him playing a couple games here and there.

The sabres need a skater, a hitter, and a scorer in their defensemen. Mckee just blocks shots.

yeah, you're right...we don't need a solid defenseman who blocks shots and doesn't cost a lot of money. What was I thinking?

Mckee is too old to come to the Sabres and sit around and wait for them to develop into a Stanley Cup contender in 2018.

Have you guys watched him play the past few years? This isn't the Jay Mckee of 8 years ago.

Plus, lets not get this revisionist history of the guy. Everyone remembers him as this big physical guy that hit everyone......nope, not really. He was a decent hitter until he knocked himself out trying to take out Lemieux in the playoffs. After that he was basically a shot blocker. Not terrible, not great either.

Don't believe me? I challenge you to go out and find a youtube or anything else witha big hit from McKee from his last 4-5 years. It isn' there.

C'mon guys, you are all better than that...... 1yr $800,000. He got less than Montador, maybe, just maybe....

he is washed up.

I fully agree with this but he is better than Lydman and Tallinder and cheaper. Get those bums out of here.

i think the argument on mckee is that while washed up and past his prime, he's sadly better than what we have. and at least we know the kid has heart. you know he'll take the losses personally. you know that he just might instill some desire to win in these punks who've just sucked the joy of being a good team right out of everything.
