Some Denver Broncos fans with club-level tickets have resisted making contractual payments, missing deadlines at about the same rate as last year.
This year, however, the economy apparently is playing a greater role.
The Broncos would not give the number of club-level ticket holders who still owe money on the upcoming season's games, but Rick Nichols, the Broncos vice president of ticket operations and business development, thinks the team will end up with about the same number of lawsuits as last year.
The team took 40 account holders to court last year. Nichols said the team could end up with 30 to 35 cases in court this year after it exhausts collection efforts. Payments on the multiyear contracts were due March 3, and the team has made calls and sent letters to delinquent account holders.
