    City extends window to talk with Chargers

    San Diego city officials and the Chargers will continue private negotiations on the team's demands for a new stadium for an additional three months.

    Yesterday, council members voted 7-1 to approve the extension of the negotiations, which began March 12 and were due to end June 2.

    Councilwoman Donna Frye cast the dissenting vote, arguing that council members already know enough to decide the policy and legal issues regarding the team. Frye said she wants the City Council to focus its time on other important issues, such as budget cuts.

    Councilman Michael Zucchet was absent
