Roethlisberger accused of sexual assault in Nevada lawsuit
A civil lawsuit was filed last week in Reno, Nev., accusing Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault.

The lawsuit was filed in Washoe County, Nev., and accuses the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback of assaulting a woman in July 2008. Roethlisberger is named in the lawsuit along with nine co-defendants.
Roethlisberger's attorney, David Cornwell, acknowledged the suit to various media outlets, but released a statement denying the claim."Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone," Cornwell said in the statement.
The story was first reported by Pro Football Talk.com, which said that a female Harrah's casino employee had alleged the sexual assault against Roethlisberger. According to the Web site's report, the civil suit alleged that Roethlisberger asked the employee to come to his hotel room to fix the television, and that he later forced her to have sex with him.
Cornwell issued this statement on Roethlisberger's behalf late Monday night to various media outlets, including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "This weekend Andrea McNulty served Ben Roethlisberger with a civil complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her in July 2008. Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.

Ive met Roethlisberger before, and personally i think hes an a$$hole. Doesnt make him guilty, just my two cents.Comment

If this is true, I wonder how the NFL will punish him, Randy McMichael beat the **** out of his pregnant wife twice and got a slap on the wrist.

No criminal charges? Jump right to the civil? I smell a greedy woman whos a liar. I hope after she loses, she has to incur all the courts costs. Unfortunately, Rothlisberger won't be able to get his reputation back.Comment

Here's my thoughts.... as a Steelers fan.
1. To the suit itself. It seems to have quite a few holes in it. I am waiting to see more come out. But I have a feeling this will be more like the Kobe Bryant issue. HOWEVER...
2. As you all know I am a pastor. There are a number of things that are being said (in general, not necessarily here) that are just wrong... as I deal with the backside of this stuff.
a. Most rapes actually go unreported. it is NOT unusual for there to be no criminal case.
b. Often times, only after counseling will a victim be able to talk about it. However, with no rape kit, all other evidence long gone (probably) there is no recourse but civil suits.
c. Engaging in more and more dangerous sex, beginning or increased drug use, etc. etc. are all signs that rape may have happened... not signs that "she had it coming"
d. It DOES NOT MATTER WHAT A WOMAN DOES.... she NEVER ASKS FOR A RAPE. That is utterly ridiculous.
Except for the post just befor mine, not saying anyone here is saying that.. just that I have seen it posted in various places today.

with no criminal charges and going straight to a civil suit, this looks like a con job.
that doesn't make it true. just it doesn't look credible to me.
