Steelers head coach Bill Cowher signed off on running back Jerome Bettis on Tuesday as a member of the 2003 Steelers.
In what capacity remains to be seen, but Bettis is on the team.
"He's here and the way he's approached this offseason, I think it's obvious to a lot of people he's out to remove any doubt that anyone may have," Cowher said upon the opening of the Steelers' voluntary coaching sessions. "There's no uncertainty as far as that's concerned, in terms of him being part of this football team."
Bettis showed up looking svelte relative to how he appeared at the conclusion of last season, when he struggled with cartilage damage in his left knee that ultimately required offseason surgery to correct.
