Sabres' Numminen retires after 20-year career

News Sports Reporter

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Teppo Numminen has officially decided to retire, his agent told the Buffalo News today.

Don Baizley confirmed reports first released on a Finnish Web site Tuesday that the 41-year-old Numminen is calling it a career after 20 seasons in the NHL to join the Finnish national team as a scout for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
