PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The slow pace of rookie defensive end Aaron Maybin's contract talks with the Buffalo Bills are partly the result of another unsigned first-round draft pick: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington, Maybin's publicist and friend, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Crabtree's stalled negotiations are the reason that Maybin has missed the first two weeks of training camp and the Bills' preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans last weekend.

There is confirmation from one source that unitl Crabs sign, Maybin aint coming in...this is just getting better and better!

Its simple economics. Crabtree wants more than or close to what DHB got who was picked 7th, who got a 20% bump over last years #7 pick. So if Maybin signs now for a slight increase over what 11 got last year and then Crabtree signs a week later and is siginificantly higher money than Maybin just lost out on a ton of potential cash. If he waits on Crabs, he signs for lots of money, then Maybin can justify asking for even more, or close to what Raji will sign for (#9 pick)

For the moment, yea I think so.

If it gets to be past preseason game #3, I think Maybin may blink. He can't afford to sit out all year like Crabs can. Next two years DE classes are STACKED!

forget about next years class, forget about crabtree or raji. I understand the why it's been difficult to sign him, however, he must get his butt in the field asap... The D line needs a pass specialist... we can use his talent on the field.

The Front office should be working overtime to get Maybin into camp. I am not putting the blame on them, we as fans obviously DO NOT have all the proper details.

Neither side is really to blame. Maybin is not going to sign before Crabtree, and you can't really blame him all that much. It sucks yes, but that's the way this works. And will continue to work till the new CBA.

Yes and no. The players are slotted...and that is how they'll get paid. Holding their clients out is not going to get them anymore money. Just because Al Davis is an idiot, doesn't mean the rest of the owners are dumb enough to follow his lead. In this situation, these agents need to get a clue.

Players are not slotted officially. And when one lands a mega deal it throws everybody else outta whack. The agents job is to get his client maximum dollars. Parker is doing that for Maybin, what's the issue?
