Green Bay’s Advisory Committee Tuesday agreed to take a do-it-yourself approach to pursuing a naming rights deal for Lambeau Field.
The 4-1 vote comes after more than a year of talk about bringing in consultants to aid the city. Alderman Ron Antonneau was the lone dissenting vote.
“We don’t need to reinvent the wheel,” Alderman Guy Zima said. “The marketplace will tell us what people are willing to pay.”
City staff will draft a simple request for proposal that will be sent to Fortune 500 companies, marketing firms and other interested parties. A task force will likely be established to take on the task.
The committee’s action still needs final approval by the full Green Bay City Council.
