Is Chris Ellis coming into his own?

ranked by scout.com as the seventh best d-end in his draft, and a four star prospect maybe the Bills got another pass rush option for this season.

I haven't really watched him that closely this off season. Ive heard that he's put on some muscle and that he may be sounder technique wise, but how does the kid look to you guys?

Nice interview with Ellis on a local radio station (97Rock) this AM.

Bruce Smith pulled him aside at the HOF game and told him this was his year.

I think he said he was down to 253 or 255, less than he weighed coming out of college.

Re: Is Chris Ellis coming into his own?

Dude is the future. He and Maybin will be tag teaming OLs for a decade!!

OK, honestly I don't know. I am just hoping someone will grab Kelsey's job by the face. I think he was originally drafted to be a future option at RDE, while (early on) spelling Schobel at times. But, I'm thinking that long term plan changed the second the Bills drafted Maybin.

So far he has looked much improved. Very much improved. But, he had a long way to go, and still has a lot to prove. He's a little light for the strong side right now, but maybe he is our future Phil Hansen.

He was pretty weak and soft his first year, but he has apparently really worked hard to build his strength and stamina. He looks like he's gonna be pretty good.

i took a lot of **** for saying that he was a very good pick in the 3rd round.. he wasn't a finished product out of virginia tech, but he has awesome athletic ability and i knew he had a ton of potential... i am glad to see it looks like he has improved dramatically.

so far this pre-season and last season copeland bryan looks like a MUCH better player than ellis

hopefully ellis will become something though. i like him

I am watching the Bills vs. Bears game again for the 4th time. Watching everything i can trying to get a bit of a glimps of soemthing i misses the times before. I think Ellis is surely looking more comfortable, aggressive, and in control of his game than he has in the past. I think he might be one of those "Where did this kid come from?" stories. If we can work him in games on the line throughout the season he will only improve and stir competition. Don't think for one second Denny and Kelsay arent seeing it as well. Hunger can do wonderful things..

I think at this point with Maybin holding out this long, Bryan and Ellis will get plenty of playing time. I think Bryan can be another one of those gems for Buffalo that we somehow keep finding.

Ellis caught my attention with 2 big lays last week... Consistenly making plays is what we need to see...

I sure as hell hope so, it would be wonderful to have someone beat out Kelsay and Denney

Re: Is Chris Ellis coming into his own?

I thought he played pretty well in the preseason last year, I was shocked how little playing time he saw in the regular season in 2008. Anyways, it looked like he got in here and worked his ass off in the offseason to become better. Maybe the Bills first round pick can be mentored by Ellis, in addition to Lavar Arrington.

Re: Is Chris Ellis coming into his own?

Ellis still looks like he lacks technique. Once he gets stoned by the tackle thats pretty much it for his rush. For some reason he likes to slide inside and gets lost in the wash. Hopefully he focuses on hitting the edge more.

C.B. though has been the best DE this preseason. Aggressive with good angles. I hope its not a preseason aberation, and that he can start over Kelsay.

I remember being excited after we drafted him. As long as he can continue to bulk up, with his speed he could become a solid part of the DL

if kelsay is replaced, does he lost that lucrative celino and barnes commercial played at the games?

Bryan or Ellis will take his place
