View Full Version : In hindsight, how would you grade the 2000 draft

OK, this one is much more relevant. Non-impact players have matured and are looking at their second NFL contract. This is where the men are separated from the boys. 2000 was a pivotal year because it was the first draft in what appeared to be a rebuilding era. It could have set the stage for the future. What do you think of John Butler's last draft with the Bills? Personally, I think he either missed big time or he torpedoed it on purpose...either way...an F.

Here they are:

Rd Sel# Player Pos. Ht. Wt. 40yd School
1 26 Erik Flowers DE 6-4 270 4.75 Arizona State
2 58 Travares Tillman FS 6-1 195 4.6 Georgia Tech
3 89 Corey Moore OLB 5-11 215 4.6 Virginia Tech
4 121 Avion Black WR 6-0 180 4.4 Tennessee State
5 156 Sammy Morris RB 6-0 220 4.55 Texas Tech
6 194 Leif Larsen DT 6-5 300 5.0 Texas-El Paso
7 233 Drew Haddad WR 5-10 185 4.6 Buffalo
7 251 Dashon Polk OLB 6-1 220 4.75 Arizona

1 26 Erik Flowers DE 6-4 270 4.75 Arizona State

complete bust

2 58 Travares Tillman FS 6-1 195 4.6 Georgia Tech

marginal backup...bust

3 89 Corey Moore OLB 5-11 215 4.6 Virginia Tech

shot in leg and then did not call team...bust

4 121 Avion Black WR 6-0 180 4.4 Tennessee State

bust

5 156 Sammy Morris RB 6-0 220 4.55 Texas Tech

special teams captain...may have been a steal.

6 194 Leif Larsen DT 6-5 300 5.0 Texas-El Paso

contributed more than Flowers but still a complete bust

7 233 Drew Haddad WR 5-10 185 4.6 Buffalo

never made team

7 251 Dashon Polk OLB 6-1 220 4.75 Arizona

managed to keep roster spot all this time...

....as serious as grading a draft where the guys haven't even laced them up yet.

I was being facetious. This draft sucked copiously

who gave it a D?? Sammy Morris salvaged this draft from an F- but not good enough to get it a D.

I said D but only because of Sammy Morris! But Eb, I think you're right!

I gave it an A. The last straw in cutting ties with Butler.

Doc, that's not right...that draft really hurt this team...

I agree. It was a lousy draft filled with reaches that produced only 2 backup-at-best players.

polk is a good backup, morris is a contributor..

i gave it a solid F.

I gave it a D. Polk in the 7th and Morris.

But then again, these letter grades are all subjective.

What's really stupid is when these polls come out with A+, A, A-

Do we really need 13 levels to slot the draft???

One of the worst drafts of all time....F, Not one starter in the group.
