    Valley in running with 3 cities for '08 Super Bowl

    The new Cardinals stadium in Glendale is among four finalists to host the 2008 Super Bowl, but it faces stiff competition to snag the game.

    "This is what we were hoping for in terms of timing," Michael Bidwill, Cardinals vice president and general counsel, said after the NFL named the finalists Tuesday. "It's a big step forward."

    Others in the running are Tampa, Washington, D.C., and New York/New Jersey, said Jim Steeg, NFL senior vice president of special events. Bidwill, who was attending the owners meetings in Philadelphia, said Atlanta, New Orleans, Los Angeles and San Diego also expressed interest.
