Cowboys' Hambrick hopes to drop weight, secure job

IRVING, Texas (May 21, 2003 8:43 p.m. EDT) - When the Dallas Cowboys' season ended, running back Troy Hambrick headed home to Florida to rest, relax and load up on his mom's cooking.

"Collard greens, rice, ham hocks - you name it, she's making it," he said, smiling.

Hambrick returned to Dallas weighing 260 pounds. He wasn't concerned, though, because that's what he weighed after going home last year, and by mid-May he was down to 235.

This year, the pounds haven't come off as easily. He's been stuck at 250 for so long he's starting to think the team's scales are broken.
