Kelsay excused

Chris Kelsay was excused from practice on Wednesday and will miss Thursday night’s preseason finale.

He had a personal matter to attend to as his youngest daughter is having a surgical procedure in Chicago according to head coach Dick Jauron.

Why would they put young, promising DE's with the first team when they could put slow, declining DE's in as a starter? Silly fans don't know anything compared to the coaches....

I'd be fine with that...and rest Schobel up and play Ellis or Bryan next to him. I'd like the FO to see that either Ellis or Bryan have more upside than Kelsay and that Kelsay should be the one to go.

The love affair of these coaches with Kelsay is sickening...

Why do you guys dislike Kelsay so? Is it that he is overpayed? I agree but i dont let money effect my likes/dislikes of players etc..

--Scenerio- If Maybin lights it up and starts soon then IMO we would be stacked if we had DE depth like Kelsay.. I agree he isn't all that etc, but to want him released and think our D-line would be better is confusing at best.

Let's see...Denney and Ellis atleast contribute on special teams. Bryan, atleast against 2nd stringers has gotten sacks, hurries, and tackled against the run.

Kelsay on the other hand never gets a sack or hurry, gets pushed around like a girl scout, is frequently on the ground on all four, is always 5-10 yards away from the ball even when they run directly at him, and is pretty much all around useless. He will be a cap hit, but sometimes you just have to cut your losses...

this thread would have been more excited if it was titled, "Kelsay out" and then it said how he was released.

MArvelous, i think its impossible to take his contract out of the equation. for the money and time given to him, he has to be much better than he is. if he was making a league minimum and was further back on the depth chart, sure, he's awesome. He plays smaller than he is, if that was possible. he goes absolutely crazy the few times he makes a decent play. And that comes off as, "i'm just as surprised i did something good as you are." Not, "let's pump this team up and keep making plays."

Last year, he got driven back off the ball on run plays so frequently that it became distracting. Him and denney are a lethal 1-2 combo and i don't mean that in a good way. the quicker we get rid of those two, the better.

Hardly ever seems like he's on the field anyway, so what's the difference?
