All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Wouldn't Maybin's presence disrupt the continuity of our finely tuned defense?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
Jauron couldn't see that Jackson was way better than A-Train, when the fans did. I don't expect him to see that Johnson>Parrish or Maybin>Kelsey/Schobel.
I don't care if he is a rookie. He definately gives us a better chance at success from Day 1 than Kelsey, Denney, and even Schobel.
Sad but true from Metallica plays in background.
He should start game one but wont like many of you point out on this thread. I say by week 4 - 5 he will be replacing the Kelsay at DE. The impact he brings will be felt week one against the Pats and that will bring the house down on Dick and Company to get the kid starting.
I think something to mention here is that while the coaches, CB, etc. keep talking about Maybin as a future LDE, the only times I've seen him (limited times, that is) he's been an RDE.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Maybin is viewed as Schobel's successor. Maybe for a couple season's they'll use Maybin as a pass-rushing LDE on third and long along with Schobel. I just think that Maybin, especially with the body type he has now, is more suited for an RDE. He could always gain more weight, though, as long as he keeps that first step.

while some have said that he is built like a wide receiver, and i have mocked that several times.. i do believe he will get bigger and stronger as time goes on. i think that right now, denny and kelsay are both better suited to play the run.
i think that maybin can be fantastic as a pass rush specialist initially. i also think that you run the risk of having him get trampled if you just toss him out there right now though based on the fact that he got two sacks in the preseason.
while i am extremely excited about the skill this kid has flashed, i just dont know that he is truely the best option right now.
that is just my 2 cents.

I would agree... except Kelsey/Denney not only suck at rushing, they are less then average vs the run.

I think the Bills should try and coax Schobel over to the left, and have Ellis be his eventual replacement there. Maybin is prototypical RDE.

i respectfully disagree. neither are good pass rushers.. but they don't get blown off the ball.
That is the least they could do. I prefer one that makes a play every now and then. Maybin had more solo tackles in his first 6 snaps then Kelsey had all preseason.
