May 23, 2003 -- Dusty Zeigler's career with the Giants is nearing an end. A physical examination Wednesday revealed that his right knee, which underwent microfracture surgery prior to last season, has not healed fully, paving the way for his departure from the team.
Zeigler, 29, is destined to be cut from the Giants after June 1 because he will not pass his physical for the 2003 season. The Giants will part ways with him and save his $1.8 million salary against the salary cap.
