Edwards becomes Van Pelt's No. 1 project

Sure enough, as soon as Schonert was fired, we began hearing whispers about Turk's arrogant, abrasive nature, his lack of flexibility, his unwillingness to take suggestions from others.

Word came out that Schonert didn't have a good relationship with Edwards, or with the offensive players in general.

Funny how things come out after the fact. OK, fine. Schonert is gone. Van Pelt is a younger, more engaging personality. Presumably, he is on great terms with Edwards and can bring out the dynamic, forceful quarterback just waiting to be unleashed. Van Pelt has been his position coach for more than a year, so he has to take some of the blame for Edwards' struggles.

By the way I really don't believe that Edwards has lost any confidence. I do think he's smart enough to realize that he was and is working with a bunch of idiots.

Terrell Owens should ba very good equalizer once he is on the field.

It's funny how the Bills' braintrust (or is that rust) didn't notice Schonert's multiple failings until 9 days before the start of the season.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Sucks we wasted a year on that failed experiment

but I am very happy AVP is getting a chance if for no other reason then the fact that he is a fan favorite for almost all of us

until there is a cleaning of the house and a philosophical change of mindset, the Bills are destined to be in the bottom 15 of the league.

This team realizes that they have alot invested in Edwards and this might have been why Schonert got the ax now vs. later.

I hope Van Pelt surprises us all. For the Bills' sake and my own heart condition. I can't take another pitiful season.

Van Pelt has the tools, smarts and offensive weapons to be somewhat successful this season, but it all comes down to Edwards and whether or not AVP can put together a plan with so little time.

I think he will open things up. Im hoping he does. I really hope he does.

Apparently hes sitting down with Kelly, which is a good sign seeing as Kelly has been very vocal about how we have misused the no-huddle offense this year.

                  Which we have.

                    We can't get much worse.

I hope he coaches like he's got nothing to lose.... be aggressive.

It was in two different articles both on buffalonews.com including the one in the original post of this thread above. apparently Kelly wants to have a sit down with AVP.

Kelly doesn't like what he's seen from the Bills' current version of the no-huddle, which had very little success in the preseason.
"If you're going to run the no-huddle offense there are a few things you need to change up, and hopefully I'll get a chance to sit down and talk with Alex a little bit," Kelly said.

Jauron says he's committed to the no-huddle offense. OK, Alex. When you have that sit-down with Jim Kelly, find out if he thinks Edwards should call his own plays. Be daring, for God's sake. What do you have to lose after nine years of persistent failure? At least let the devoted fans know you're going down with a fight, rather than another exasperating checkdown.

Any chance of getting Kelly on the staff?

I think Kelly could be swayed to be in more of an advisory role than a coach. He has already stated publicly that he has no interest in actually coaching.
