Re: Ruynan visting Friday...
He would be a very good addition.
It makes me wonder what their motive is in doing this. Veteran depth, cut Chambers or Scott? Or make him the starter at RT, bumping Butler down to depth?
I doubt that Runyan would be happy as a backup, honestly. I hope they're bringing him in to be the starter."Misguided political correctness tethers our intellects."

Re: Ruynan visting Friday...
I was listening to AM 610 WIP (Philly sports radio) a week or two ago, and Runyan was on the Howard Eskin show. Runyan said he's been medically cleared to play, and (in his opinion) is healthy. If that is true, he'd be an instant upgrade.

Re: Ruynan visting Friday...
If he's healthy, he could be a good addition. Does he expect to start? The question is how you'd fit him in. Is he strictly a RT or can he make the switch and be more effective than Walker was? If he can play left tackle he'd give Bell a little more time to sharpen his technique and gain confidence. If he's strictly a RT, it could be trickier. Is he enough better than Brad Butler at this stage of his career that you want make Runyan a pretty big offer and sit Butler. Or would Runyan consider taking backup pay to extend his career.I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.
I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Re: Ruynan visting Friday...
I'll make this clear.
Its the same reason June, Peterson or none of those LB's signed.
Runyan will want to be a starter, and get starer money, or he is not signing.. in Buffalo anyway.
NOt to say it won't happen.. If he is healthy, he's head and shoulders above Butler at RT.
In other words, he'll retire if Buffalo is his last option before he takes min salary money to be a backup here.Last edited by patmoran2006; 09-10-2009, 03:22 PM.

Start sewing his name on the back of a jersey. We got a game Monday !!The Polian Curse

Re: Ruynan visting Friday...
Just to play armchair QB.
If Runyan signed (which would surprise the **** out of me)
HE WOULD be the starter at RT, for sure.
Does that with Butler
A) Move him to LT instead of Bell (Butler's never played there)
B) go back to RG. That moves either Wood to bench (he's the current RG) or do they move Wood to LG and LEvitre to the bench)
C) Go to LG, a position he's never played.
D) Become a bench player?
Im not saying it can't happen, I just don't see it happening. Thats an awful lot of line confusion.

Re: Ruynan visting Friday...
It would make up for losing Walker. Dare I say a possible upgrade depending how his knee is. A micro fracture doesn't sound to bad IMO
I'm going to take the positve road here. Nobody is going to offer Runyan a big time contract, but the Bills will have to sweeten the pot for him to choose us over any other team.
That being said he would be a great Vet prescence for our young studsLast edited by ddaryl; 09-10-2009, 03:33 PM.
