My final piece of news for the night is sort of a follow-up to Wednesday's late night post regarding the classic Buffalo Sabres logo continuing to appear at center ice. It's good news for fans who've been awaiting the imminent death of that awful yellow logo which debuted in 2006.

The final nail in the coffin may have come straight from the mouth of Buffalo bigwig Larry Quinn early today. Icethetics reader Kevin wrote in today with this report.

I'm perfectly fine with them switching to the old logo full time and using the new logo as an alternate. For them to completely get rid of it would be a mistake.

Yes it would be a mistake. A ton of fans, not just bandwagon fans or those involved with the "clique", purchased new merchandise with the new logo on it. To completely get rid of it so fast would be like saying, "Hey thanks for all your money, now go **** yourselves!"

I'm telling you, that the Sabres are only changing back to the :oldskool: for the 40th anniversary for next season 2010. Like Montreal did for their 100th Anniversary last season they wore 5 different jerseys.

Yes, they do have marketing department. it's probably their biggest department. I know it bigger than their scouting department, that is for sure. The don't market only by video.
