    Walker VS Butler

    This is the real discussion.

Walker was decent last year at RT but the scheme has changed to a more mobile line. Why do we assume Walker would have fit at RT under this new scheme?

Walker sucks because he is no longer a bill. Nuff said.

        Re: Walker VS Butler

Walker wasnt decent last yr or the yr before, that is media brainwashing, he was an average pass blocker at best, but was absolutly horrible in run blocking and he is way to slow on edge rushers as well as pulling and trapping
i was glad as hell we cut him and dockery and moved to nasty young Olineman
we have needed that since our glory days
walker and dockery were huge wastes of time and money
move on to the rookies and Bell
i would think thou showing how bad our front office is, if you have such glaring need for a prospect at OT u would have taken one in the 2nd rd instead of taking Byrd when both ur starting safties are coming back and u have another 3 on the roster already
that is were we should have taken a prospect for OT and still would have had Levitre and wood drafted
again stupid front office signings and draftings lead us to a backup playing center 2 rookies and a 5th and 7th round pick to start for us
Butler will be better all around than Walker was

I really liked Walker. I thought he's been our best lineman the past couple seasons. However, when we signed him we wanted huge, slow, strong lineman. It looks like we've switched gears towards nasty and athletic. Langston was far from either of those. In fact, he kind of came off as a big pussy.

I thought Walker was a good team player but, he clearly was not in the shape needed for the no huddle.

the big fat OL didn't work for us the last few years. We weren't opening holes. If the OL were all fat and had to pull, how long before they can even back to line up for the no huddle? Could also be a reason why we couldn't run screen plays. Too slow.

There may be more internal reasons unknown to us for his departure.

If it was just $$, then Kelsay & seveal others would have been cut.

I'll support Butler but I've been a critic because of his tendency to play high and not move his feet.

I'm thinking his slot is an area of need in the next draft.

Nighttrain, I can somewhat agree with your comments but he has progressed nicely through out the preseason. While he does play a little high he uses his reach very well.

Walker played well last year, and he should of been given a chance to prove he couldnt at least handle the RT spot. We all saw he could not play LT, but we dont know about RT. But we gave the job to Butler who while he may be more athletics is less consistent, has worse technique, and has performed worse than Walker.

I have a feeling that this new offense is going to try more stuff to the outside which is going to require a lot of pulling from the Tackles. Walker is too slow for this style of offense.

He should be very successful on a power running team though. We are not a power running team. Hell, I don't know what the hell we are.

Levitre looked nasty when he got bull rushed 20 yards behing the line of scrimmage.

Size wins in this league and when the next coach comes in he'll be dismantling the no huddle as well.

We needed a Center and a real number two receiver. We used an axe instead of a scalple.

Honestly, I dont think EITHER of them are NFL calibre starting right tackles, unless they're starting on a bottom feeder team.

Good teams don't have offensive tackles like either of them.

                              mark my words.

I dont know anything about next year's draft prospects, but assuming we're in the bottom of the standings this year, and there is a Top 5 OT coming out, we'll be taking an offensive tackle with our first round pick.
