How can anyone say we will be good or bad?

11/22 players on our team our new. The old are Trent Edwards, Lynch, Evans, Stroud, Williams, Mitchell, Pos, Ellison, McGee, Whitner, and Scott. Schobel is comming from injury, Butler is at a new position, and McKelvin is comming in for Greer. Also the old are pretty good. Trent was top 10 in CPT last year, Lynch made the pro bowl, Evans is a very good WR, Stroud was a PB alternate, Mitchell is decent, Pos was our DMVP last year, McGee did a good job vs Moss last year, Whitner is decent, and Scott is solid. You can talk about the OL but in reality it isnt that shuffled anymore. The only player making a position change is Butler and thats to a position he played in college.

On D we have 2 former pro bowlers, a player who had 2 sacks and a FF in preseason, and a solid DT and McCargo who was a 1st round pick and is finally healthy. Our LBs are decent with us needing to find a replacement for Ellison but he did have a decent preseason. Our secondary should be fine though.

What im saying is with this many changes, we are almost a new team and the players that are still there from last year were pretty good. You dont know what to expect from this team. We could be like Miami last year where all the changes pay off, or we could be like Oakland, a team that makes alot of moves but doesnt go anywhere.

Re: How can anyone say we will be good or bad?

The Bills were 7-9 last year.

On offense, Owens is an upgrade. The OL took a huge downgrade. Lynch out first 3 games. At a very generous best it's a push. Realistically it's not at all, rather the entire unit took huge steps back. Plus they have a whole new idiotic no huddle and a OC who was just fired.

On defense, swap in McKelvin for Greer. That's it. The D wasn't that good last year. McKelvin alone isn't going to make it better.

Start with 7-9. The O gets worse and the d says the same. You end up with...

Look no farther then the coach. There's your answer! He's got a terrible resume.

I'm not sure if any coach out there today has a worse record. Maybe Marvin Lewis ?

We lost Peters who gave up the most sacks outside of Doc whos also gone. We lost Crowell who is out for the season in NO. We lost Greer but gained Florence and we still have Corner. Outside of that we have 2 top 2 round OLmen, a top TE in the draft, a HOF WR, a new OC, and a new Offense scheme. Maybin and Schobel make the Defense better than last year automatically and our OL sucked last year anyways and we still have no idea what it will be. Realy, how can you think that our OL will be good or bad?

            1. Russ Brandon is a PR man, not a football man....somehow he is the GM
            2. Dick Jauron is the coach
            3. Our "offensive coorindator" is being thrown into the fire
            4. Our offensive line has 3 starters on it who have never started in the NFL
            5. Behind the inexperienced line we have a young indecisive QB
            6. Our starting RB is out for the first 3 games, and we cut Rhodes
            7. This roster, on paper, is worse than last year...we went 7-9 last year
            8. This roster, in pre season, looked clueless on the field
            9. This team, and coaching staff has done nothing of relevance
            10. Until they start winning, there is no reason for optimisim
The last time the Bills made the playoffs was 1999.

TO instantly makes our Offense better, regardless of the Oline. The O line was terrible last year too. Add Owens, it improves the team.

TO effects. LYNCH and EVANS big time. Lee will no longer be doubled. Lynch will no longer have 8 in box attacking him.

And the AVP Moe is a question mark, Could improve things for Trent, we will see.

BOTTOMLINE... THE OFFENSE IS DEFINITELY IMPROVED

Re: How can anyone say we will be good or bad?

                  To say it simply:

-- In regards to our young players, I like many of the moves we made (although not all of them). These moves will pay off in future seasons, but probably will not be enough this season.

-- Our schedule this season is brutal. We play the Pats (x2), Panthers, Saints, Titans, Falcons, and Colts. It is unlikely that we are going to sweep the Dolphins and the Jets (more than likely we will split with those 2 teams).

Thus, I don't see us reaching 10 wins -- which is what it'll probably take to secure a Wild Card.

First, you need to learn how to count. Our only changes on D are McKelvin- who played last year- and Maybin, who isn't even starting. That means 1/11 starters are different. On O, there are 5 new players (4 on the OL), 2 of whom are rookies and one of whom hasn't played in the NFL before. So, 6/22 are different. If you count Butler in a new position, it's 7/22. There is no way to argue that 11/22 are different.

Second, the team sucked in pre-season. Everyone says preseason doesn't matter, yet the Bills have looked remarkably similar in both the regular season and pre-season.

Third, we were 7-9 last year. Do you honestly think that 2 rookie offensive linemen, an undersized DE and TO are enough to get us over the hurdle into the playoffs? That's just naive.

Fourth, our OC will only have 10 days in his position when the season starts.

Fifth, our ENTIRE OL is new and inexperienced. That is NOT a good thing. Granted, the line sucked last year, but replacing the guys who sucked with guys who have never played in the NFL before is not a guarantee for success. Most people would actually say it's a recipe for disaster.

Finally, Jauron is still the head coach and he's a career loser.

No one knows what will happen for sure. But the chances of a bunch of guys who have never won **** combined with a bunch of guys with no experience suddenly resulting in a good team are slim to none.
