Falcons' Defensive line presently under construction

Flowery Branch -- The Falcons won't begin practicing for another couple of weeks, when passing camp begins June 9. Already, there's been some juggling of personnel on the defensive line.

After Demetrin Veal was drafted in the seventh round out of Tennessee, team officials said that the 6-foot-2, 288-pound rookie would first work at noseguard even though he played mostly end for the Vols. That plan has evolved. ''Veal is going to start out [working] at end and we'll look at him [later] at nose,'' said defensive line coach Bill Johnson .

    So what's changed?

''The change was how we ended up in free agency. We ended up signing the kid from Harding [Ark.], who's more of a nose, where Veal can do either.''
