According to nhlnumbers.com, they are at a cap hit of 50.6 million without counting Sekera, MaCarthur, McCormick, Ellis and Grier so that is probably pretty close.

There will be some lost salary after TRC though, as they have too many defenseman and forwards.

well, if it is, then it needs to be replaced with "this organization is poorly managed" talk. We're right up against the cap so there are limited moves that can be made, yet, we can't make the ****ing playoffs. It's "they don't spend money" replaced with "they don't spend money wisely."

Either way, the product on the ice sucks and we, the fans, are the ones who suffer.

I believe most people believe this organization is not cheap, but just stupid. Like I've always said, they spend money, they just don't have a clue who to spend it on.

The Vanek debacle will keep it close for some time to come.

Yeah, the team spends, but they chose their spending path 2 years ago ... 2 non-playoff years

Tallinder and Lydman both come off the books after this season. That is instant cap relief, assuming they aren't traded first.

Pominville needs to earn his paycheck this year instead of stealing it like he did last year. His contract hurts and isn't paying dividends.
