Especially after the first sack that Edwards took on the final possession, I was thinking they should call one more screen play to get the necessary yards and still get out of bounds. Here's my reasoning:
1) Obviously, all the coverage was deep and along the sideline. An underneath route would have worked again.
2) Belichick brought pressure on the last play and I'd expect him to again
3) Jackson had consistently been able to get 15+ yards on screen plays AND almost always ended the screen plays out of bounds.
4) It's been obvious that almost all night our WR's had struggled to get open, and the chances of getting a pass to them so they can get lots of yards and get out of bounds was unlikely.
Does anyone else agree? I think after Edwards' first sack they should have called the screen. It may have gotten Lindell in range for a FG.
