Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share some news I got last night. I got a call from my old boss at Yahoo! Sports in California. He was calling to see if I would be interested in something that had to do with the NFL and the Bills. Of course, I said yes! Here is a little background...
The creator of Yahoo! Sports (can't remember his name right now) left 2 years ago. He started up a new website used for professional sports. He has columnists and bloggers for the site, from people all over the U.S. He recently hired my boss's father as Senior Editor of the website. (His father is a big shot at the LA Times newspaper in Los Angeles, CA). The project is to find 4 bloggers for each NFL team throughout the U.S. These bloggers will write stories about their team once or twice a week, and following a game. Alan said when his father was explaining it to him, my name popped in his head first!
But, here is the kicker. 1 of the 4 bloggers will be given a weekly credential (pass to go on the field and sidelines) for each home game! Now, I am not 100% sure I will be chosen to be the one who gets the credential, but I hope I do! He explained to me that this is a HUGE opportunity and a chance to do this for a living!
I forgot one thing...and it's a BIG thing. They signed a contract yesterday morning with the NFL. This is HUGE because the NFL doesn't ever work with websites or anything of that nature. Since they have an agreement, our blogs will be posted on NFL.com and all 32 team websites!!!! For those that don't really know the business, this is HUGE.
His father is going to be contacting me soon about more specifics. He said that they are looking to begin Week 3 in the NFL (next weekend). I'll keep you all updated!
