    ESPN Power Rankings

View the 2024 NFL power index on ESPN. The FPI is the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season.

We're ranked 21st, and we were previously 21st. The fact that we didn't rise doesn't bother me as much as some of the comments about it I've seen. Apparently some guy named Sando doesn't really like us.

This is from Tim Graham's comments on our ranking:
Note: Beating the No. 28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday didn't nudge the Bills off last week's ranking. In fact, Sando dropped them four spots, and Chadiha dropped them one spot on their ballots.
This is from the blurb about the Bucs (ranked 28th)
The Bucs have allowed 900 yards in their first two games. They even made the Bills look good. (Sando)
Well, Sando, the Pats made us look pretty good for 55 minutes too.

Another thing that bothers me is the Dolphins ranked above us...what the heck? They looked AWFUL against the Falcons. Their offense looked decent against the Colts, but the Colts are known to have a bad run defense. The Colts tore the Dolphins' defense apart.

I know it's not fashionable here to complain about ESPN and its biased coverage, but it just frustrates me. At this point, I agree with our ranking with respect to the other 1-1 teams, but the Dolphins should be a good deal lower. Oh, and Sando apparently bumped the Dolphins up two spots after their loss. Seriously?

So why is it that several teams get credit without beating anyone? We were one fumble away from being 2-0, and at least we have a win.

Power rankings are not standings. If they were, they would be called NFL Standings.

my guess at the dolphins being ranked higher than us is that they have a coach who took them from 0-2 to division champions last year. They hung in with a very good team last year and that might give critics the view that the dolphins are putting it together again.

And the bills have done this 1-1 thing before. Beat up on bad teams, compete with good teams but lack the finish.

So if you had to extrapolate based on what you've seen, you could guess, the bills are going to keep beating bad teams and lose to good ones, and that the dolphins are slow out of the gate but manage to perform well over the course of a sesaon.

Whether that's fair or accurate are separate things that will be seen over the course of the season. Again, i think the bills are still projecting a 3-13 to 7-9 swagger in them. Until they beat a team of consequence, we'll be getting these comments. And instead of having to make comments of "if this didn't go wrong we could have won" we need to get to say "things didn't work out as planned, but we still got a W."

                I agree.

I think that even the Realists were ok with the Bills beating Tampa in our home opener. The Saints look like the real deal. To garner a huge bump in the power rankings we need to beat them.

It is going to be a tough order. I will be there cheering them on though.

Seriously, there are much better things to worry about than power rankings, but I really don't have a problem with where they have us.

This team hasn't proven anything yet.

I never get too upset about these rankings. The Bucs ran all over the Cowboys, but then only managed 57 yards against us, plus we win, and it counts for nothing? These thing are far too subjective. Some teams are never going to get the credit they deserve, and some teams are always going to be overrated.

Greg Jennings? He did play, just didn't get any catches. I started him too...but thankfully my opponent didn't pay attention and started Antonio Bryant AND Ladainian Tomlinson. So I won that matchup.
