Punting there is a fire-able offense.

I can't believe that. There was no evidence suggesting they might win if they punt. The defense has been gashed for big runs, and haven't been able to consistently stop the run. The offense hasn't been able to move the ball very well...so the fewer chances they get the harder it will be. It was pretty easy to see that the 4th and 23 was coming, you weren't going to get a better chance on 4th down.

He needs to be fired right away.

The offense stunk today... the defense put this team in a great chance to win, but the offense never took advantage.

This seems eerily familiar to several games down the stretch last year.

This is what Trent Edwards (and Jauron) football looks like. Tease you with decent performances against sub-500 teams and then totally outclassed against a quality opponent. There is a lot of talent on this team that is going to waste.

Honestly, he should be fired immediately. As hard as it might be, forget about the past: we all know he sucks. This single decision sums up what Jauron is about: losing.

8 minutes remaining and you're down by two scores. 4th and 1 on your own 28. You need to score. If you punt, you might get a 3-and-out, burn a minute or two off the clock, and get the ball back with worse field position (barring a miracle). If that's what he was thinking, he's a moron. Nope, he just decided to lose the game by fewer points rather than playing to win. Unfortunately for him, it didn't make a difference in the score.

He's a loser. That **** is contagious. Dick'B'Gone.

Pierre Thomas was running it down the Bills defenses throat in the second half. The defense was on the field way to long and was wearing down. They need two scores. All those are important reasons why Jauron should of went for it.
That call right there is a perfect example why Jauron can't win as an NFL head coach. He does not play to win.

and then after the punt, does NOT call a timeout with 4:30 left and it's 2nd and 20. Those are teh stops that need to be made and that's when the time is more important than timeouts.

That one single call was the worst thing that we have done this year.
It is the kind of thing that leads to fan hatred, and eventual coach removal.

If we lose, we should lose trying.

This is Dick's second strike with me.

One more, and I will join the chorus.

We had nothing going. There was no legit chance we were going to stop them, and we really needed a first down.

Dumb call.
Chicken call.
Play hard or don't play.

Punt on 4th down? Wow, even if you don't believe you are going to win why not pad the stats so you don't look so bad? Coaches do that all the time. Talk about a loser.

I dont know, you dont make that 4th down and they get the ball on the 15 and the game is over.

They had them at 3rd and 9 after the punt and barely any time had gone off the clock... it was the right decision.

It seems to me there is a good pattern to follow:

Fire the offensive coordinator, our offense springs to life for a little while
Fire the head coach....?

I hated this call because we knew we didnt have the time to get the ball back and win and that the D was getting gased.

But, I hated the 3 and 3 call more because we had the ball, had a great shot to keep the chains moving and get a big drive, and we throw the low percentage long ball and give up the series.

Why is anyone surprised or upset? Jauron has done this throughout his tenure in Buffalo. It fits right in with his keep-the-score respectable, play-not-to-lose philosophy. Since our offense, behind its gutless QB, couldn't put a point on the board anyway, what does it matter?

Who is suprised that callw as made. It was one of several bad calls from the sidelines.... If Dick got released today I wouldn't be suprised at all... Lets hope for the best.

The game was over if he punted. EVERYONE knew it. We hadn't been able to stop their running game for the most part. We're historically bad on third downs on defense. Even though our defense had done well up to that point, who would really expect them to continue to stop New Orleans' offense? At some point the Saints were going to break through if you gave them enough chances. Jauron just had to give them a couple more chances.

i was at the game and i wanted to kill myself when he didn't go for it. i felt so bad for the defense. they did a really good job up until the end. i would have gave up to. i really want to punch dick jauron in his nuts. it might not do anything though because i don't think he has a pair. i thought you play the game to WIN. not play the game not to lose. what a ****ing schmoehawk this guy is.

I've lost complete confidence in this organization, and until they get a proven coach and a competent QB I won't ever get my hopes up again, not giving up on the season by far, but we all know how it's going to turn out.

The way I see it, and probably the way Jauron looked at it, our defense was playing very strong so might as well put it on their shoulders to give us a chance to win, rather than rely on a QB who can't make a play to save his life in a high pressure situation.

In Dicks own words" They were up 10. WE weren't going to give it to them. They have to earn it"

Dick how about you earn a win instead of giving up and letting the saints earn their win.

No wonder why Trent has no balls . His coach doesn't have one.

The jets coach has balls thats why they are 3-0 with a rookie at qb who isn't scared to throw the ball.

Where at those posters who said something about the coaches not having any confidence in their qb?

The problem was we needed to score. Even if we did force a 3 and out, we had still been horrid at moving the ball on offense. It was inevitable that we were going to go up against a 4th down again on the next drive. I'd rather have a 4th and 1 than a 4th and 10 or so on the next drive.

Oh and I should ask...what's our conversion rate on 4th downs so far this season? We were a perfect 3 of 3 before yesterday. I'd MUCH rather trust those odds of getting a first down than trust that the defense would hold yet one more time against the nation's most potent offense. It was a cowardly move, and one that almost NO winning head coach would have made.

That was one of the biggest jokes i've seen as a Bills fan in recent memory. WGR few weeks ago spend a whole day about most embarrassing Bills moments in the last 10 years. Obviously callers had a ton of bad moments to share and all were very sad for this team, but that punt was up there on that list. The offense needed momentum and needed to move the ball. Getting a first down there would have been a huge momentum booster for the offense and we really needed to give the defense rest. Punting was pure suicide.

Also, the Bills overcame a 1st-and-20 on that series to even get in the position to be 4th-and-1. Any kind of momentum we were building was lost forever in the game. We NEEDED to score on that drive. The irony is that the Bills were the ones that needed 10 points, but the Saints were the ones that got 10 points after the punt.

You are right; punting WAS pure suicide, and I don't only think so through hindsight.

Jauron doesn't call the plays. In fact, it appears (to me anyway) he probably doesnt even know what plays may/not work. How about the novel concept carry a list of plays with you, have the OC stand next to you on the sideline in your hip pocket. IMO Van Pelt is up in the booth cause he can dip and spit? Anyone notice he has chew in his mouth needs a cup to spit in? We need a coach with some emotion, a little in your face, some creatvity (ie Gruden, Billik, Shanahan, Cower) Jauron #1 quality is the players like him. They like him cause he doesnt yell and scream.

Growing up playing sports how many coaches did you have that didnt yell, get mad show some emotion? I would be willing to wager the teams you have been on with a quiet coach, little emotion you didnt win much ... just sayin

exactly what me and my cousin said at the game. i told him if they score any points off of this, we are leaving the game. we did exactly that after the saints kicked the field goal.
