I want to do a new daily poll. and the question is going to be.

"Who is the worst Buffalo Bills coach in team history"

DIck Jauron is an obvious candidate.

Give me four more, for a total of five.

Ready.. set.. go!

Wade Phillips is/was big and fat and always had that "What happened?" expression on his face.

Mularkey coached the team to a winning season and should not be a candidate.

Harvey Johnson was worse than Mularkey.

So was John Ringo.

Not all of the worst ones were that recent.

Wade was a playoff coach, no way.

Bullough and Stephenson are locks tho..

Need 2 more, or at least one for sure.

I'm going to go with Wade because his coaching decision effected our team severly in the playoffs.. How could you bench Flutie? He was magical, he is the one who took us there, when Flutie was benched, the magic took a seat on the bench too.

Greg Williams had NO TALENT and the team was in cap hell when he got here. SO I can't consider him.

RIngo. Now thats possible

Flutie is the most overrated Bills player in the last twenty years.

Ok, he's in..

Ringo only coached one year, cant include him.

I'm gonna go with John Rauch, who was 7-20-1 in 1969-70.

I'm with you on Harvey Johnson, Dr. Lecter. However you have to go all the way back to John Rauch to identify the worst missuse of a player. John Rauch decided to use O J Simpson primarily as a decoy.

I put a poll up on the site. Please vote! This is the first poll I"ve had where I actually am interested in seeing how the voting goes, plus I think its going to well spread out.

im gonna say Jauron wins based on the under 35 years old vote

Joe Collier or Buster Ramsey?

Those are two that I would have mentioned, too. Ramsey definitely deserves to be on the list. Unfortunately, if you are only putting 6 on the list, there are more candidates in Bills' history than slots in the poll.

I know a lot of fans hate Jauron, but I actually do not think that he rates low enough to qualify.

Stephenson, Johnson and Rauch have to be the three favorites to win the dubious distinction.

Then, I would have Bullough and Ringo, Ramsey and/or Collier. Perhaps with Mularkey or Williams (personally, I hated "Triple G" Williams) sneaking in ahead of Collier and Ramsey for 6th place.

IMHO Jauron would have to come in after all of those guys.

Now, if we were basing the poll on looks instead of coaching/results, it would be a different story.

That would be wrong!

Let me remind all of the long-suffering under 35 year olds that they have NEVER had to live through a ONE win season. As bad as that 3-13 year under "Triple G" Williams was, it was not nearly as humiliating for a fan as those one win seasons were when the Bills got the first pick in the draft because they were the worst team in pro football!

I've been around for all of these coaches. Ironically, Jauron is probably the best of the lot. I would rate Bullough as the worst.

Wade Phillips should have never been fired.

BS, I was glad to see him go.

It's just too bad that we haven't found a better replacement since, but he is not capable of winning a superbowl, he'll get a team to the playoffs but after that he is lost and that is ALL THAT COUNTS

Wade Phillips

Overall: 70 - 49
Playoffs: 0 - 4

I'd take the playoffs. Can't get to the Super Bowl without getting to the playoffs first.

Ralph has never put any value in the quality of the head coach. It's almost always been the a matter of hiring the "best" of the cheapest options.

Name the only coach Ralph hired who actually had a playoff victory (as a HC) on his resume prior to coaching the Bills. (Not counting Saban part 2 who had that victory with the Bills the first time).

Jauron isn't in the Top 5 based on overall record. But he is very close though based on getting the least out of the talent available and terrible in game management/halftime adjustments.

Wade Phillips was an idiot for:

1. Switching to Rob Johnson (based on his performance in a meaningless final game) for the playoffs after Flutie led the team there playing the first 15 games.

2. Publicly announcing 6 days before the Titans kickoff that Johnson would start. Why give that away?

3. The next season publicly stating before the Colts game that both teams -with identical records - are out of the playoffs. Colts went on to beat the Bills, win their next two games and make the playoffs. Bye Bye Wade.

I'm not sure there is someone outside of the last twenty years that was more overrated, either.

For those saying Flutie was overrated, I'd take him over every quarterback we've had since.

To stay on topic, based on record so far and the coaches during my active fandom years, I'd have to say Gregg Williams was the worst.

Williams can coach defense. He had enough sense to bring in Frenchy LeBeau and the D was at the top of the league. On offense, he had Kevin Gilbride, who, like him or not, is doing a nice job with the Giants.

No way. Wade had multiple playoff teams. I don't care if the roster was good or not. The year before Wade took over the Bills were 6-10 if I recall correctly.
